Disability Network offers several programs geared toward preparing teens and young adults for employment, independence, and community connections. These programs include:
Learning Independence From Experience (LIFE) classes.
LIFE classes are offered to high school students with disabilities in the five county area. Topics include disability awareness, self-esteem, leadership skills, hands-on teambuilding activities, life skills, and employment.
Youth Advocacy Council (YAC)
Staffed by Jessie Bachmann and Annie Campbell, Transition Specialists with Disability Network, the program provides social activities and general life guidance for 18- to 26-year-olds with disabilities.
It is led by members, who vote for officers twice a year, choose topics for meetings, and plan recreational activities.
Peer Support
Disability Network has two action groups that provide opportunities to socialize and network with a group of peers.
Youth Advocacy Council – comprised of individuals ages 18-26 who in addition to engaging in social activities work together to achieve life goals.
Adult Network – this is an opportunity for adults, age 27 on up, to engage in social activities and network with to each other.
